Roxy, a bulldog used for breeding, was brought in to the Ontario SPCA to be euthanized. She was adopted into a loving home where she is now thriving.

How did your pet steal your heart?   Was it love at first sight?   Did they choose you?

My husband and I both love cats but never talked about getting one. One time, my husband called me to tell me he found a lost cat outside of a coffee shop. He tried to feed it some bread and milk, and as he was going to his car to come home, the cat started following him. He brought it home and we took care of it for a few days. We put up lost cat posters all over the neighbourhood, plus online but nobody claimed him. We took it to the vet to check it out, and it turns out the cat was both unneutered and un-microchipped. We waited a couple of weeks and decided to keep him.

A couple of years later, I started volunteering at a local animal shelter and we decided to get a companion for our cat. We got a kitten this time. The two have been inseparable since!

Both cats keep us great company during the day and keep us warmed up at night!
